About Morse Code
Morse code is a method used in telecommunication to encode text characters as standardized sequences of two different signal durations, called dots and dashes. It was developed in the 1830s and 1840s by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail.
Basic Morse Code Timing:
- Dot (·): 1 unit
- Dash (-): 3 units
- Space between parts of the same letter: 1 unit
- Space between letters: 3 units
- Space between words: 7 units
The speed of Morse code is measured in words per minute (WPM). The standard word "PARIS" (which is 50 time units long) is used to calculate WPM.
